Medical training abroad
GROUPE SOS is active in the field of international sanitary and social development. We defend the notion of the right of the most socially vulnerable persons to access effective medical care, whether they be children deprived of a family structure, geographically isolated populations, disabled persons, pregnant women and new-born children, the mentally ill, persons living with chronic diseases (such as sickle-cell disease, epilepsy, malaria, HIV,....) or young people who have dropped out of society.
We have set up training programmes for health-care and social services personnel, and accompanied projects in around thirty countries. Our moto has always been "action, but not substitution".
Developing countries have all the necessary potential for dispensing care to local populations, and it is up to them to choose the means of their development. GROUPE SOS supports local initiatives whilst respecting local social structures and cultures, and has become specialized in four major domains: optimizing existing health-care structures ; bringing medical care to rural zones ; improving the health-care facilities made available to children and to socially vulnerable persons ; training and education on the theme of development in its bases in France.
