 Making culture accessible to all

At Groupe SOS, we believe that the transmission of knowledge and artistic practices is essential. Culture allows us to see further, stimulates our minds and brings delight in our perception of the world. It is a source of openness, freedom and equality. Everyone should have access to culture, which is all about connections, journeys, stories and ideas.

This guiding principle permeates our day-to-day activities: our venues, our support programmes, our media, cinema, heritage, cultural engineering, artistic production, integration, business acceleration… and our desire to pass on knowledge.

Our actions

The laboratory of possibilities

The laboratory of possibilities

Conceived as a support programme, Le Laboratoire des Publics promotes access to creation, artistic practice and works of art for the people who are most distant from the cultural scene, including the beneficiaries of Groupe SOS organisations. By developing our cultural and outreach initiatives, we are facilitating the emergence of a synergy between artists, art venues, foundations, cultural institutions and medical-social facilities. Le Laboratoire des Publics is a genuine public-interest initiative that unfolds against a backdrop that we can no longer ignore: access to the arts and culture is being denied to a segment of the population which, for economic and social reasons, has no opportunity to take part in the cultural dynamics that surround them. We are deeply committed to an approach based on solidarity, sharing and equality, and therefore we defend one clear principle: aesthetic practices must be accessible to everyone, without exception.

Developing innovative cultural spaces

Developing innovative cultural spaces

Building new artistic and cultural spaces is a fundamental priority for Groupe SOS. Based on the conviction that the role of artists and creators is crucial in defining a new social model, the group brings culture to those who are most distant from it. It creates new cultural spaces founded on the support to creation, integration, cultural entrepreneurship and civic mindedness.

Medias

Medias

Respect, a media sponsored by Groupe SOS, tells the story of the singular, unique people, pioneers, rebels and outsiders, who inspire respect and involvement. Exploring intimate stories and collective revolutions, understanding where each person is coming from, overcoming conditioning, supporting fights for social justice: Respect gathers individuals, initiatives and powerful investigations about social, environmental and cultural issues.

Safeguarding iconic heritage sites

Safeguarding iconic heritage sites

Groupe SOS supports the enhancement of France’s cultural heritage while promoting employment and training. We believe that culture is a wonderful springboard for integration. Through its integration workcamps, our Acta Vista organisation recruits people who are distant from employment and offers them a contract and vocational training on prestigious ancient heritage sites.

By providing privileged access to culture, these workcamps meet a threefold objective: integration, cultural transmission and restoration of endangered heritage. There are currently 7 major sites across France, with more than 535 employees on integration schemes, two-thirds of whom have returned to employment after their training.
