Erasmus+ projects supporting social inclusion and ecological transition: three Groupe SOS organisations awarded

Groupe SOS is strengthening its European engagement by winning three Erasmus+ projects as coordinator, through its organisations Solidarité Énergétique France and Auxilia, and one project in collaboration with Le Refuge Foundation.
These projects — REACT, Resilient Voices (simplified partnerships), and Sheltering Diversity (cooperation partnership) — funded by the European Union, illustrate the diversity and complementarity of the Group’s actions in favour of ecological transition, social inclusion, and mental health.

REACT – Tackling energy poverty with Solidarité Énergétique France

Led by Solidarité Énergétique France (SEF) — a Groupe SOS association — in collaboration with the Spanish organisation ECODES, the REACT project (Renovation Empowerment Action for Combating Thermal Poverty) aims to professionalise support for households experiencing energy poverty.

This one-year initiative is structured around two main objectives:

To train professionals working on energy poverty by enriching the support methodologies used in France and Spain. This involves better identifying vulnerable households, mobilising appropriate funding, and strengthening the technical skills of field workers.

To create a European network dedicated to combating energy poverty by sharing best practices between both countries, thereby establishing a common and adaptable training framework at the European level.

Through the creation of five thematic tools and a digital collaboration platform, REACT aims to structure a new profession in France — the ensemblier·es solidaires — inspired by existing practices in Spain and combining social, technical, and administrative expertise.
By strengthening support for energy renovation, this project contributes directly to combating climate change while reducing social inequalities.

Resilient Voices – Including the most vulnerable in risk management with Auxilia

Faced with the increasing number of natural disasters, exacerbated by climate change, the Resilient Voices project, led by Auxilia — another Groupe SOS association — in collaboration with the German Committee for Disaster Reduction (DKKV), addresses a crucial issue: the under-representation of vulnerable populations in risk management policies.

Over the course of one year, the project seeks to:

Identify the barriers faced by vulnerable populations before, during, and after disasters.

Improve awareness and information on natural risks among these groups.

Define conditions for the acceptance of risk management policies by directly involving those most affected.

Launch a European debate on the inclusion of vulnerable groups in local public policies, particularly in low-resource municipalities.

By strengthening citizen participation and inclusion in the design of public policies, Resilient Voices addresses European priorities of promoting common values and improving access to adult education.

Sheltering Diversity – Better supporting homeless LGBTIQ+ youth with Le Refuge

The Sheltering Diversity project, led by Groupe SOS in collaboration with the Le Refuge Foundation, is being implemented in collaboration with the Ljubljana Pride Association (Slovenia) and the Lambda Warsaw Association (Poland).
Together, the three organisations aim to enhance the capacity of LGBTIQ+ shelters to integrate mental health support into their services for socially excluded young adults.

This two-year project is built around four key areas:

Developing specialised training modules through exchanges of practice, working groups, and transnational cooperation.

Training staff, volunteers, and social workers to identify and address mental health issues in an LGBTIQ+ context.

Raising awareness among external stakeholders (institutions, healthcare professionals, public authorities) about the realities faced by homeless LGBTIQ+ youth.

Promoting the expertise of LGBTIQ+ shelters in mental health support at both national and European levels.

Through concrete actions — conferences, testimonial campaigns, and training sessions — Sheltering Diversity aims to improve recognition of the specific needs of these groups and advance standards of care and support across Europe.

A European dynamic serving the most vulnerable

By winning these three Erasmus+ projects, Groupe SOS reaffirms its role as a key player in social innovation in Europe.

Through REACT, Resilient Voices, and Sheltering Diversity, these organisations are addressing critical challenges such as energy poverty, inclusion of vulnerable groups in risk management, psychological support for highly marginalised LGBTIQ+ youth, training for carers of people with dementia, and recognition of students’ civic competences.

These projects demonstrate the power of European cooperation and the importance of investing in collective, innovative, and human-centred responses to the major social, ecological, and democratic transitions of the 21st century.
